"Sunrise"(日出) was the old land name for Kaadaadaan Community in Guanshan Township, Taitung County, during the Japanese colonial era. "Hezuo" (禾作) is a pun that represents both the crops we plant and the concept of "cooperation."(合作) (禾 and 合 sounds the same)
Inspired by the Taiwan Indigenous Amis people's agricultural society spirit “Mipaliw” (米粑流), which emphasized mutual assistance and cooperation, we aim to uphold these values even today. In an era of agricultural mechanization, where large machinery and sophisticated processing equipment are key to agricultural production and sales, small organic farmers face a significant burden in acquiring such equipment. However, by sharing resources—such as one farmer's tractor, another's rice harvester, and another's rice milling equipment—we can perhaps revive the Mipaliw spirit through the cooperative use of machinery.
